Funding round-up from Somerset Wildlife Trust

There are loads of tree planting grants and giveaways available to both communities and private landowners to give you a head start with your planting projects.


 The Woodland Trust provide a variety of free tree packs for communities and schools, as well as several schemes for private landowners and a wealth of advice to help you plan your planting. Get your application in early

The Tree Council provide grants to schools and communities to support the planting of hedges, orchards and woodlands, or to enhance existing woodland areas for wildlife. Get your application in early

Orchard grants - People's Trust for Endangered Species (ptes.org) This grant scheme aims to get new trees planted in old orchards and to help community orchards be planted, to protect traditional orchards as biodiverse habitats in the long term. The grant is open to any owner or manager of an existing traditional orchard, or existing or new community orchard. Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis

I Dig Trees - Ready. Steady. Grow. | From TCV Very straightforward application. All trees must be planted on publicly accessible land and not on private domestic property. Various packs of native trees available, minimum pack size 50 trees. Applications open until all trees are claimed. 

Tiny Forest (earthwatch.org.uk) Various partnership and funding options available to help you establish a tennis court sized "Tiny Forest". Submit interest at any time

ITF provides financial support for community tree planting projects, with expert consultation and advice for projects that need it. All projects take place on public or publicly-accessible land, but this can include private land that is being used for social purposes or permissive access. Funding available for both small (up to £1000) and larger scale projects. Application deadline, Friday 16th December.
