Hazel planting in the Food & Fuel forest

Big thanks to members of staff at OMS International, Bristol who came and planted Hazel seedlings in our Food and Fuel Forest in the Chew Valley. Many of them had little or no experience of tree-planting.

A friend of a friend of a friend was grubbing out some overgrown hedgerow in her garden in Bristol and when my friend heard about it she went round and collected the seedling shrubs. When they arrived here at Westfield Farm and were sorted out we discovered a fantastic array of hedgerow plants.

Our afternoon was spent planting 51 Hazel saplings on the border of the Slopes to create a wood for Dormice who like to live in Hazel bushes.
